EXCO Elections 2016

The NUSSU Executive Committee (EXCO) Representative Elections 2016 is led by the Union Election Committee (UEC). The Union Election Committee comprises of Union Returning Officer Mr Loo Weng Heng, Union Election Officer Ms Manali Mehta, Union Election Officer Ms Goh Him Ling, Union Election Officer Ms Low Yi Yun, and Union Election Officer Mr Javier Leong.
 

10 September 2016 - 1st Council Meeting of the 38th NUSSU Council (Internal Elections)

With 31 "yes" votes, 4 "no" votes and 5 Invalid votes, Tan Wee Bian (Engineering Club, EXCO Representative) has been elected as the 38th NUSSU President by the 38th NUSSU Council.

With 29 "Yes" votes, 4 "No" votes and 3 Invalid votes, Ong Zhang Yao (Community Service Club, EXCO Representative) has been elected as the 38th NUSSU Vice President by the 38th NUSSU Council.

With 36 "Yes" votes, 1 "No" vote and 2 Invalid votes, Yue Yao Cong (Sports Club, EXCO Representative) has been elected as the 38th NUSSU General Secretary by the 38th NUSSU Council.

With 35 "Yes" votes, 2 "No" votes and 2 Invalid votes, Kong Xiao Wei (Sports Club, EXCO Representative) has been elected as the 38th NUSSU Financial Secretary by the 38th NUSSU Council.

With 32 "Yes" votes, 0 "No" votes and 1 Invalid vote, Lee Zi Quan Jeffrey (Science Club, EXCO Representative) has been elected as the 38th NUSSU Student Life Secretary by the 38th NUSSU Council.

With 24 "Yes" votes, 4 "No" votes and 3 Invalid votes, Siong Li Qing Jeannie (Arts and Social Sciences Club, EXCO Representative) has been elected as the 38th NUSSU Student Welfare Secretary by the 38th NUSSU Council.

 

3 September 2016 - Notice of the 1st Council Meeting of the 38th NUSSU Council (Internal Elections)

The 38th NUSSU Council will be having their 1st NUSSU Council Meeting on the 19th and 11th of September, from 1000hrs to 2200hrs at LT27, NUS Faculty of Science, for Internal Elections*. The sequence of elections is as follows:

2) 38th NUSSU Executive Committee President

2) 38th NUSSU Executive Committee Vice President
2) 38th NUSSU Executive Committee General Secretary
2) 38th NUSSU Executive Committee Financial Secretary

2) 38th NUSSU Executive Committee Student Life Secretary
2) 38th NUSSU Executive Committee Student Welfare Secretary

All students are warmly welcomed to attend. NUSSU members have speaking rights unless otherwise motioned by the Council. In the event that all internal elections are completed within the first day, the meeting on 11th September 2016 will be cancelled.

*Voting is required. Only NUSSU Council Representatives and externally elected EXCO Representatives having voting rights.
 

 

31 August 2016 - Results of the 38th NUSSU Executive Committee External Elections (Faculty Clubs)

After confirmation from the Registrar's Office, the results for the external elections of the 38th NUSSU Executive Committee Representatives from Faculty Clubs have been tabulated. The Union Election Committee would like to congratulate the candidates who have been successfully elected.

 

29 August 2016 - Results of the 38th NUSSU Executive Committee External Elections (Non-faculty Clubs)

The results of the external elections of the 38th NUSSU Executive Committee Representatives from Non-Faculty Constituent Clubs have been tabulated. The Union Election Committee would like to congratulate the candidates who have been successfully elected.

 

 

29 August 2016 - Conclusion of the External Elections

As of 6.00pm on Monday, 29th August 2016, the external elections for the 38th NUSSU Executive Committee Representatives has officially concluded. Vote counting will begin at 7.00pm at the NUSSU Secretariat. All students are welcomed to observe the process. 

 

29 August 2016 - Election candidate Withdrawal Notice

38th NUSSU Executive Committee (EXCO) Election candidate and NUS Students' Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Club NUSSU EXCO Representative Nominee, Mr. Chan Keng Li Chris, has officially withdrawn from the elections.

 

29 August 2016 - External Elections

Students are reminded that the 38th NUSSU Executive Committee External Elections are held today from 9.00am to 6.00pm at the NUSSU Secretariat. Voters (only full-time NUS undergraduates enrolled in a faculty [except YSTCM] are granted voting rights) are required to bring along their matriculation card and NRIC (for Singaporeans). The Union Election Committee would like to remind voters to exercise their voting rights wisely.

Vote counting will commence from 7.00pm at the NUSSU Secretariat and all students are welcomed to observe the process.

 

28 August 2016 - External Elections

The external elections for the 38th NUSSU Executive Committee will be held on Monday, 29th August 2016. More details can be followed below:

Venue: NUSSU Secretariat (Yusof Ishak House, Level 5)

Voting is only opened to full-time NUS undergraduates enrolled in a faculty (except YSTCM), Voters are required to bring along their matriculation card and NRIC ( for Singaporeans). Voters are also kindly reminded to exercise their voting right wisely.

 

25 August 2016 - Extension of Campaigning Period

With the postponement of the 38th NUSSU EXCO External Elections to Monday, 29th August 2016, the campaigning period for candidates will be extended to Sunday, 28th August 2016, 2359 hours.

 

24 August 2016 - Postponement of 38th NUSSU EXCO external elections

The State Funeral for our nation's former President, Mr. S.R. Nathan will be held on Friday, 26th August 2016. In light of this, the 38th NUSSU Executive Committee Elections have been postponed to Monday, 29th August 2016 from 9am to 6pm.

19 August 2016 - Compulsory Campaign Briefing

Candidates running for the 38th NUSSU Executive Committee are reminded to submit their nomination forms to the NUSSU Secretariat latest by 6.00pm on Friday, 19 August 2016. Any late submission of nomination forms shall strictly not be entertained nor accepted.

The compulsory campaign briefing for candidates to confirm their candidature will be held on Friday, 19th August 2016, in the Student Lounge Conference Room (Level 4) at the Yusof Ishak House (YIH) from 7.00pm to 8.00pm. Only candidates with valid reasons may be excused at the discretion of the UEC.
 

13 August 2016 - Nomination Period

Nominations are now open until Friday, 19 August 2016, 6.00pm. Nomination forms can be found HERE. The nomination form must be submitted to the NUSSU Secretariat latest by 6.00pm on Friday, 19 August 2016. Any late submission of nomination forms shall strictly not be entertained nor accepted.

 

Please note that the NUSSU Secretariat will be opened from Monday to Friday, 10.00am to 6.00pm (except during lunch hours from 1.00pm-2.00pm). Kindly drop your nomination forms in the allocated box during the above-mentioned timings.

 

The Union Election Committee (UEC) strongly recommends all candidates to be familiarised with the NUSSU Election Regulations, and to consult their respective Constituent Clubs on their respective Constitution about the roles and responsibilities of NUSSU EXCO Representatives.

 

Candidates are also required to attend a compulsory campaign briefing to confirm their candidature. Only candidates with valid reasons may be excused at the discretion of the UEC. Details on the timings, venue and location of the briefing will be updated on this page.
